Owner André Terrail told the Associated Press, “Seeing such historical places enduringly exist is quite reassuring for many customers. “This is especially true in the rich tapestry of French culinary heritage.”
With its founding year of 1582 inscribed on its doors, the restaurant brashly declares itself to be the oldest in Paris. Formerly, this restaurant hosted fabled feasts for royalty like King Henri IV and notable people like Louis XIV. Presidents, famous artists like Salvador Dalí, and celebrities like Marilyn Monroe have all visited its tables throughout the years.
The restaurant is a stunning space that costs a lot of money and provides Dinner is 360 euros, and it doesn’t even include a look at the enormous 8-kilogram (17-pound) “bible” of its wine collection. Lunch starts at 150 euros (7).
But the redesigned Tour d’Argent serves those who want to experience its ambience without dining in luxury. It currently has a ground-floor café that serves pastries in the morning, a small bar by the fire where you can have cocktails in the evening, and a rooftop bar that is open in the warmer months with breathtaking views.”
